Description: VISUAL EFFECTS PROGRAMMER
Our client needs a Visual Effects Programmer to join their Northern based studio. In this role, you will be required to program the procedural graphics: complex natural phenomenon such as clouds, fire and crowds - providing outstanding and dynamic visual polish to the game.
Essentials
•Strong programming skills
•Strong maths skills - At least A-level, preferably with a leaning towards geometry and mechanics. An understanding of the shapes and possible uses of various common mathematical functions is a big bonus
•Artistic eye - Not only an understanding of when something looks right or wrong, but also an understanding of how to change it to correct those problems.
•Good Problem solving skills- Being able to come up with several different approaches to any given problem is vitally important.
•Good Knowledge of General Algorithms - Knowing where and how to apply established algorithms
Recommended
•Some art qualifications- Having some background in art/design is a big plus, so it knowing the basics of Photoshop
•Visually impressive demo- Being able to bring together all the various aspects of procedural graphics would be a big bonus
•The capability to describe natural phenomenon using mathematics
•Some experience with shader languages (HLSL) - GPU, understanding pixel/vertex shaders is a big plus
•Understanding of Colour Theory
