Senior Environment Artist

Our client has created some of the world's best-selling critically acclaimed titles which have continually achieved critical and commercial success. All of their published titles are in the top 5% highest rated games.

They are seeking an exceptional Senior Level/Environmental Artist to join their Montreal studio. The quality and scale of their products requires a unique artistic sensibility; one that seeks excellence in their artistic endeavours, but also one that understands the technical challenges of today’s games industry.

The kind of artist that will excel and flourish in their studio will understand the importance of atmosphere, ambience and impression; you will construct, texture and light incredible levels and environments in our award-winning story-driven games. Architectural, technical and artistic skills will be an asset for this position, but most of all you will have a passion and drive for creating work that pushes the boundaries of current game design!

The successful applicant must:

• Have 4 years minimum in the Video Game industry with an understanding of Real time Graphics issues.

• Understand Art work flows with the ability to modify and improve them.

• Have a great understanding of the aesthetics of environment, function vs. Form relationships, as well as what makes a game level fun and intriguing.

• Proficient understanding of color theory, and be able to create balanced & appealing color palettes.

• Have excellent modeling and texturing abilities.

• Ability to interpret the Art director’s vision and communicate that to the rest of the team.

• Ability to communicate on a wide range of issues and work well in a team spanning artists, programmers, and designers;

• Become the project’s point of contact for environmental art with respect to aesthetics, technical knowledge, pipeline, and scheduling.

• Help to maintain the vision of the project.

• Work with others to outline processes, limitations and schedules for the project.

• Test and proactively troubleshoot areas that are not working in the game engine and help to fix them.

• Maintain the pacing of deliverables for your team.
