Description: Studio Audio Director
Our client is a global developer of AAA titles and currently they are in search of an Audio Director to join their audio team. The candidate must have at least 8 years experience in creating audio for games, including a minimum of 4 years experience as a project Audio Lead or Audio Director. They are looking for an individual who is highly organized, inspirational, and technically accomplished. You are a leader with a passion for sound design and a clear understanding of the technical requirements and issues present in making audio for games.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Responsible for overall quality of audio in all products
• Oversees Project Audio Leads in developing and directing the audio vision for assigned projects
• Works with Project Audio Leads to define technical requirements and specifications to facilitate creation of advanced audio systems that support the Audio Vision
• Mentorship, guidance, creative and technological assistance to the team
• Performance and career management of the audio team members. Sets goals and objectives for team members and acts as visionary, mentor and coach
• Identify opportunities for greater efficiency in process and workflow
• Responsible for studio audio standards and best practices
• Identify studio audio hardware and software needs, develop departmental budgets
• Source and manage external audio providers including composers and recording studios
• Schedule audio resources across multiple projects, ensure proper studio staffing levels
• Work with peers across development disciplines to ensure superior level of interdepartmental communication and conflict resolution
Qualifications and Experience:
• Minimum 8 years experience creating audio for games with at least 4 years experience as a project Audio Lead/Audio Director, including shipping multiple AAA products
• Strong management and leadership ability
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Exceptional sound design skill and strong technical audio skill set
• Experience creating audio pipelines on projects
• High degree of proficiency using professional audio software and hardware
• Familiarity with a variety of audio middleware applications (Wwise, F-Mod etc)
• Strong knowledge of field recording, Foley, microphone and professional audio equipment
• Expert level understanding of microphone techniques, signal flow and recording practices
• Audio programming and music direction experience are preferred but not mandatory
• Experience managing external sound/music providers
• A drive to continually advance the art and science of game audio!!
